Student Direct Stream – SDS
Exploring Canada’s Student Direct Stream: Is It the Right Choice for You?
Due to the introduction of the new Student Direct Stream (SDS Canada), pursuing studies in Canada has become an increasingly appealing option for residents of pivotal Asian and African partner countries.
Through the Student Direct Stream, also recognized as SDS Canada, students living in the Philippines, China, India, Vietnam, Pakistan, Morocco, or Senegal can experience expedited processing times by demonstrating in advance their financial resources and language proficiency essential for academic success in Canada. The service standard for processing through Canada’s Student Direct Stream is set at 20 calendar days.
To be eligible for Canada’s Student Direct Stream, applicants must fulfill supplementary criteria, including stricter language proficiency levels than those required for a regular study permit. Furthermore, a fundamental requirement for acceptance into the Student Direct Stream involves submitting a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) as evidence of holding an investment account with a balance of CAD $10,000 or more.
