Intra Company Transfers
Corporate Internal Transfers
These permits enable a company to bring specific employees to Canada from its overseas offices without requiring an LMIA.
Overview of Intra Company Transfers
A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is not necessary when obtaining a work permit through this program. However, both workers and employers utilizing the Intra Company Transfer program must comply with all regulations governing temporary work in Canada. This includes securing a Temporary Resident Visa if required.
To participate in this program, a transferee must possess a minimum of one year of full-time work experience with the foreign business and engage in comparable work while at the Canadian affiliate. This work must align with one of three specified categories.
Executive: An employee responsible for overseeing the management of the business or a significant segment of it.
Senior Managerial: An employee tasked with overseeing all or part of the business, while also supervising and controlling the work of other managers and professional staff.
Specialized Knowledge: An employee with expertise in the company’s product or service, or possessing advanced knowledge of the enterprise’s processes and procedures.
